Switzerland’s oldest horse magazine is set to change ownership. When Henggart-based Hippo-Media Verlags GmbH sells its Kavallo title to the Lenzburg-based company Kromer Print AG on 1 January 2020, the innovative printer’s and well-established publisher will secure the only Swiss German monthly in the horse sector.
Founded in 1898, Kromer Print AG is currently being run by its fourth generation. After over 20 years of round-the-clock industrial-scale production, the company switched to sustainable production methods in 2017 with a new facility just off the motorway exit for Lenzburg. Kromer Print AG sees the acquisition as an investment in the future and believes credible content is set to become increasingly important. Thomas Frei, a former publisher and editor-in-chief (simultaneously) as well as the owner of Hippo-Media Verlags GmbH, is handing over all of his duties to the new owner and going into well-earned retirement.
All editorial tasks will be taken over by journalist and online expert Daniela A. Caviglia from Nunningen, who has many years’ experience as chief editor for print products. She will be entrusted with the job of editor-in-chief and will be in charge of expanding the online community. With her love of print media, passion for horses and flair for online communities, the long-time horse owner and communications consultant will undoubtedly ensure a high level of quality content. Marianne Baggenstos of McMB Media will remain head of advertising.
Arising from the Schweizer Kavallerist, Kavallo was first published in 1910 – making it the oldest horse magazine in Switzerland. Exactly 110 years later, at the beginning of the year, a new website and several new formats will be available for Kavallo readers. The focus will be on transparency across all disciplines for passionate horse lovers. The entire magazine will be printed in Switzerland and as of 2020, will adopt the Swiss Media Association’s code of conduct for media advertising.
